The Imperium International Hotel Bandung

The Imperium Hotel in Bandung is an old faithful, and a favourite of visiting Jakarta. The Imperium Bandung offers all the usual modcons of a Hotel Berbintang and a little more.
The 51 rooms are looking a little aged, but are very large for a modern hotel. The Imperium Bandung rooms are all air- conditioned, have satellite TVs, high speed broadband Internet access, and are excellent value for business trips (there is a large worktable in all the rooms).
The bathrooms are granite with complimentry toiletries. There is a rooftop swimming pool. Functional, but empty when we visited. Bandung can still get quite warm in the afternoons. Breakfast was the usual international fare. Tasty enough, but generally unexciting.
We love the location of the Imperium Hotel Bandung. It is close to all the shopping areas yet tucked away in a green leafy residential area, amidst the chaos of Bandung weekend traffic. The Istana Plaza Shopping Centre, with its restaurants, is only a short walk away. The airport and the railway station are also nearby.
By night, there is little reason to leave the Imperium Bandung Hotel. The Hotels own discotheque is one of the best places to hear Bandung bands belting out R and B and Top 40s. Show bands perform nightly. Tip; Ask for a room on the lower floors if you want to sleep by midnight. www.itravelindonesia.com
